Belondrade, 'Quinta Apolonia'
This 100% Verdejo is Belondrade's concept of a "second vin", echoing the spirit of the second labels from the Chateaux in Bordeaux. With this wine, they are seeking a different interpretation of Belondrade y Lurton, one that is fresher and more varietal-driven.
The Quinta Apolonia falls under the Vino de la Tierra Castilla y León designation. It is named after Didier's elder daughter Apolonia, and was crafted for the first time in 2002. It is the outcome of an "assemblage" between one-third barrel-fermented wine and two-thirds wine fermented in stainless steel tanks and in concrete tanks. It blends the acidity and spark of the Verdejo grape with the structure and complexity brought from the part that is fermented in barrels.
